Overview of the Red Cross' Humanitarian Operations in Haiti

RED CROSS DELEGATE FROM QUEBEC HEADING FOR MISSION IN HAITI

Montreal, March 3,  2004 - Élisabeth Carrier, a nurse from Quebec working with the International Committee of the Red Cross, will join the Red Cross delegation that has been active in Haiti since the beginning of the hostilities.

Élisabeth Carrier is an experienced delegate, with 23 foreign assigments since the beginning of her career with the Red Cross in 1979. The list of her overseas postings includes Iraq, Afghanistan, Russia, Rwanda and Cambodia.

Overview of Operations in Haiti

Simon Pluess, the Red Cross information delegate located in Haiti, will provide an update on the most recent operations and describe the context in which the operations are carried out.

In addition, representatives from the Red Cross will explain why the Red Cross is one of the only organizations that remains to assist the civilian population during armed conflicts.
